''Hana, Chris & the Team at Furzedown Tots have been absolutely brilliant for our son Rocky. He started at FT when he was one and settled in very quickly and enjoyed developing and growing with a lovely small group of children. It made us as parents very relaxed and happy to drop our son with them 3 days a week and he was always jolly and excited when we collected him. We can highly recommend them.'' - Joe T.
''My son Emil has been going to Furzedown Tots for more than 2 years and he absolutely loves it. It's so hard to decide where to enrol your child but after having looked at several nurseries and childminders we immediately felt comfortable and at home with Hana and her team which made it an easy decision for us in the end. We love that it feels like a mini nursery with 2 childminders and usually 5 to 6 children, but it still has the intimacy of a childminder setting. Being several childminders also makes them flexible so if you need an extra day or a few extra hours one week if it's possible for them they are happy to accommodate it which was a life saver for me.
If we weren't moving away, we would have happily enrolled our daughter as well. At drop off she always sees her big brother happily running in whilst the other children come to the door greeting us. It is such a welcoming environment, a bright space with a lovely garden and Hana and Chris are a wonderful team.
Children are naturally drawn to them and you can see their commitment to as well as the joy they get from children. There is always a lot of happy faces and laughter in the house and Hana established a great routine with going outside, meal times and lunch time naps. The team sing with the children, read books, play instruments, do role play and dress up and much more; everything that little people love and need to flourish. There is a huge variety of toys inside and outside and the garden also has a trampoline, slides, a playhouse and a climbing frame.
I can warmly recommend Hana and Chris and we are going to miss them when we move.'' - Michaela C.
''Thank you for the wonderful care you have given to little Andres and Lucas. It was a very special time for both of them. I was always impressed by their eagerness to get to you on a Monday. You have a very well established and welcoming care place.'' - Marcela W.
''I was very nervous about Tilly starting at the childminder because she is very wary of strangers and can get overwhelmed easily. Actually, she settled in so much quicker than I was expecting. This was because she quickly formed a strong bond with Hana and got lots of cuddles. I'a absolutely delighted with the care Hana and the team give Tilly. She runs to the door in the morning now and is always eager to go there. This means so much to me knowing she is happy whilst I am at work. Before Tilly started, I was worried that because she is quiet when she is nervous, she would end up being overlooked. I should not have worried because they got to know her quickly and she was soon very comfortable there and chatting away all the time. Tilly always comes home with a clean nappy, never has nappy rash (even though she sometimes gets this with me and is prone to it if she is not changed very quickly), is always full up and has obviously eaten well, is in a great mood because she has had a good nap and lots of fun. Her clothes are always cleaner than when I am looking after her! They have taught her to do lots of things she didn't do for me previously, like eating a wider range of food. I trust them completely with Tilly's wellbeing and as a GP feel they have a very sensible illness policy.
I think it is great they play out in the garden so much and have lots of trips to the park. I also know Tilly learns lots of new things there, she is often singing nursery rhymes or saying a new word that I have not taught her.
In the 8 months Tilly has been there, I have not had one issue or concern to raise. I will be very sorry to move her when we eventually move out of the area.'' - Hannah C.
''Josh has been attending Furzedown Tots since just before he was one year old. I have been so grateful for how well they have cared for him during this time. Right from the start they were incredibly flexible, allowing him to join them very gradually and making sure he settled in well. He has always been treated with so much care and affection by the team, and it's so lovely for me to know that I can drop him off and he will skip off happily and really enjoy his time there.
Communication from them, both verbal and written,on their excellent website, has been really great. They know all their children so well and have spotted things in Josh that I haven't realised until they've mentioned it. They make it a matter of course to get to know the whole family, as well as the child, which makes us feel more like leaving Josh with a family friend, rather than just a childminder.
Josh has had some problems with episodes of wheeze, some of which have resulted in hospital admissions. Right from the start, the team have been fantastic in giving him his inhaler whenever necessary and alerting me if they think he is unwell. I trust their judgement 100% with this and it has given me piece of mind knowing they are really on the ball when I've had to leave him to go to work.
I've been really please and impressed at how much Josh's literacy has come on and I know a lot of this is due to Hana and Chris's work with him; reading, doing alphabet puzzles and just talking about the different letters with him. I'm sure they do much more that I'm not even aware of.
I cannot recommend Furzedown Tots more highly and I am looking forward to sending my younger son there along with his brother when he turns one.'' - Dana W.
''At Furzedown Tots we found an environment stimulating and full of enthusiasm, support, care, love and patience. The team made us feel welcomed from the beginning. The atmosphere was great, familiar environment, a very good range of toys for indoor and outdoor. You have a solid knowledge of the EYFS and is reflected in daily activities and routines and in the profile we received at the end of our journey with you. Each child is unique and you knew how to nurture our little daughter, following her interests. Or daughter progressed a lot during the period she was at FT, her language and social skills developed a lot. She is more articulate, her drawing, maths and phonics knowledge are amazing. She is more confident in showing an interest in finding out and exploring objects, events and people. She is more independent and self-sufficient in her selection of resources. She liked the role play and will often recreate and act her own experiences, she also enjoyed dressing up, listening to stories, dancing and singing. Our daughter enjoyed playing in the garden, jumping on the bouncy castle and she liked the pond.
We think that she got such a good start, you helped us nurture our child to follow the right paths of learning and socialisation. She talks about all the children as her friends, was keen to wake up in the morning and ''go to Hana's''. She loved every minute spend here and always come home full of enthusiasm and stories to tell.
We can't thank you enough for making her years ho happy. Very good communication system in place, Baby's Days was brilliant in order for us to follow day to day activities that she did, menu, photos.
At FT people with great hearts are shaping little minds.'' - Carmen D
''My twin boys attended Furzedown Tots from January 2016 to July 2017. They were 1.8 years old when they start, and were over three when they left, the only reason being that they became eligible to attend the nursery attached to my daughter's school, which is free.
My experience with FT is overwhelmingly positive. Frank's house is very well equipped and safe, and whilst they were there I saw many new positive routines being introduced, such as self-registration and a morning song which my children kept singing at home too. Hana, Frank's colleague, was always warm to them, putting them in her laps as they were singing; also, my children enjoyed being involved in many routines at Frank's home, such as setting up the chairs for lunch and tidying up the toys. They also loved the good-sized garden, and would often tell me about the pond (which has been meticulously child proofed) and the baby frogs in it. They were also taken to the local parks often or to a church playgroup once a week, so that even when my children did five days a week at FT they didn't spend all their time at home.
I'm self-empolyed, and Frank and Hana were incredibly flexible with my sometimes changing requests for additional hours of childcare; I felt that they always listened to my concerns (mostly related to my children's sleep issues) and addressed them promptly, professionally and most importantly with a sort of common sense approach. It was a pleasure to liaise with them both via their online reporting system and in person. Frank always has a smile on his face, and he was also very warm to my older daughter, who liked him very much. Frank and Hana also dealt very well with the potty training stage and went the extra mile on a few occasions, most recently when they organised a 'graduation ceremony' for the five children leaving in July 2017. Both Hana and Frank always gave me the impression of really loving what they were doing. Looking back, they were almost part of our family and, having been through some childcare nightmares, I can honestly say that I only regret not having been lucky enough to come across FT sooner that I did.
I would recommend Furzedown Tots to anyone and I wish them all the best.'' - Adriana B.
